Alexis Shahriar Assadi is the founder and Director of Assadi Private Capital, Inc. He has been a direct private lender since 2013, working to improve access to alternative financing for individuals and businesses across Canada.
In 2017, he founded Assadi Private Capital to help address the growing need for flexible, asset-based credit solutions for borrowers who may not qualify for traditional bank financing due to regulatory hurdles, credit history or timing constraints.
Alexis oversees the company’s operational framework, regulatory compliance and capital allocation strategy, ensuring that each transaction aligns with APC’s lending principles and risk profile. He works with the firm’s broker network, legal partners and internal team to support the smooth execution of every file. Alexis is experienced in due diligence, compliance, and debt enforcement. He has funded mortgages, unsecured personal loans and business loans across Canada.
Alexis’ position in the credit market is unique, having built Assadi Private Capital without without backing from institutions or investors. He is directly responsible for every aspect of the lending process. He oversees the entire lifecycle of a transaction, from initial due diligence and structuring to compliance, risk assessment and execution.
Since 2013, Alexis has witnessed and adapted to significant shifts in Canada’s lending environment: the tightening of anti-money laundering legislation, the evolution of cost of credit rules, increasing oversight of mortgage brokering standards and dramatic swings in interest rate conditions. This lived experience informs a practical, regulatory-conscious approach to lending that emphasizes both borrower protection and deal viability.
Alexis previously served on the Mortgage Roundtable of the Canadian Lenders Association, which represents banks, fintech firms, B-lenders and industry professionals. He takes interest in the broader policy landscape that affects Canadian credit markets. When federal regulators and agencies solicit input from lenders, whether on proposed changes to anti-money laundering frameworks, interest rate disclosure standards, or mortgage industry guidelines, Alexis participates in consultations and offers written submissions reflecting both practical experience and borrower-focused concerns. As an independent lender, he brings a perspective that is often underrepresented in regulatory dialogue: one grounded not in institutional scale, but in firsthand knowledge of how lending policy affects real people, small businesses and the professionals who serve them.
Alexis was born in Switzerland. He moved to Canada in 1999 and has lived in Thailand, Hong Kong, Australia, and the United States. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of British Columbia. His interests include history, politics, humour, language and powerlifting.
Assadi Private Capital, Inc. operates exclusively through licensed mortgage brokers and financial professionals, and is known for its ability to assess complex files, structure viable deals, and deliver timely funding when conventional lenders cannot.
